Hi! We are Chris and Cristin Sigouin, co-owners/founders of Level Up Health & Fitness. Opening up a personal fitness training studio has been a long time dream for both of us and with our combined expertise along with knowing we have something special to offer the people of Flathead Valley that no one else can, we decided to take the leap to do what we do best!
Please read our bios to learn more about us. We can't wait to meet you!
I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 15 years. Starting in massage therapy in 2005, physical therapy as a licensed PTA in 2010, personal training in 2012, and becoming a Champion - Performance Specialist in 2018.
For myself the study of health and fitness, the human body, it’s mechanics and movement, how to build muscle, increase flexibility, decrease pain, improve athletic performance, and improve the quality of ones life, isn’t just my career, it’s my hobby as well. It’s what a think about as I fall asleep every night, and it’s in the videos I watch, podcasts I listen to, and books I read when I’m relaxing in the evenings. You could almost say I’m obsessed. At 40 years old I am in the absolute best shape of my life, stronger, faster and more flexible than I have ever been. In fact I have even competed in my first amateur MMA fight, which having been a lifelong martial arts practitioner in some form or another has been a dream of mine since the sport began.
I'm an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Health Coach and I have a Pn1 Nutrition Certification. I am also currently working towards a Women's Training Specialist certification as well. I have been actively working in the health and fitness world for 5.5 years but I had quite the journey before I developed a love for this career!
After growing up as an overweight child and eventually hitting 225 lbs in my early 20's, I knew I had to make a change. Not only for myself but for my family and future children. I successfully lost 90 lbs in about a year and a half but struggled to keep it off for many years after. My weight was fluctuating up and down constantly with every fad diet that would help me lose weight rapidly but then the weight would come back on just as quickly when I returned to my old habits.
In early 2016, I knew this yo-yo lifestyle had to come to a stop and I had to learn how to make a life long change. At that time I decided to learn to lift weights for the first time in my life along with flexible dieting. I finally lost my last 30 lbs and have been able to keep it off ever since.
I quickly discovered my passion for exercise and healthy eating and knew I had to teach others that they can do the same and feel as good as I do now. This is what lead me into obtaining my Health Coaching Certification followed by a Personal Training Certification and now a Precision Nutrition Certification.
I absolutely love what I do and nothing brings me more joy than to help others feel good! I consider myself an expert in nutrition, coaching women through all stages of life and I can understand the struggles many encounter when trying to make a lifestyle change because I have been there myself.
I have been weight training for 12 years and am an ACE certified Personal Trainer with over two years experience in coaching a broad range of demographics. I have a background in kinesiology and exercise science, and have put my knowledge into practice while training for powerlifting and bodybuilding competitions.
My teaching skills were first realized while I was instructing martial arts. The experience of coaching students through complicated forms and difficult techniques greatly honed in my communication and teaching skills–something I attribute to my successes with coaching to this day.
Upon receiving my black belt, I set my sights on competing in bodybuilding. At only nineteen years old, I succeeded in taking first place in the Junior division at the Big Sky Championship and proceeded to take first in the Night of Champions show as well. It was at this point I realized my passion, not just for training, but also for helping other people reach their full potential.
Inspired to spread my knowledge, I studied and passed the ACE exam and started coaching through my local gym. Looking for a new challenge, I put intense focus into strength training and began competing in powerlifting competitions, which then led to me starting my own powerlifting team. I currently hold the junior and open state record for the 165 lb weight class; the deadlift record for the 181 lb class; and I have coached many athletes–young and old–to breaking many state records. The biomechanics and form required for powerlifting added to my skill set, which I have applied to my coaching regimen. Furthermore, I have extensive experience with both injury and therapy. I had four dislocations on my right shoulder, and eventually had surgery to repair it. Following the surgery, I applied my knowledge to rehab my shoulder as quickly and effectively as possible. Because of my numerous encounters with injuries, I am also very knowledgeable on rehab practices as well as proper injury prevention which I have put into practice with my clients.
My true passion for coaching can be found wherever there is a determined, hard-working individual striving to become the best version of themselves. I simply hope to provide my clients with the knowledge and tools that they need to accomplish their goals.
